Ginger & Turmeric

Energy smoothie (banana, blueberry & dates)

I love smoothies. I can drink them any time of day as a meal or snack. My toddler loves it too and he cannot get enough of it. He went through a phase where he would only have smoothies all the live long day. For fear of not getting the right amount of necessary nutrients, I would sneak in vegetables in his milk smoothies or make a green smoothie for him. And it's so easy and is such a no-brainer. Once I started making smoothies, there was no turning back. I make it everyday and it has become my go-to breakfast. I make a good variety but the most popular ones are of course the ones with bananas in them. There was no surprise there. My son's first word wasn't mama or dada. It was banana.

This is a delicious, no sugar smoothie recipe. The sweetness comes from the dates and banana. You could add sugar or honey but I promise you won't need it.

Ingredients :

1. Milk - 1 cup

2. Banana - 1 ripe

3. Blueberry - 1 handful (1/2 cup?)

4. *Date energy balls - 1 - 2

Procedure :

1. Blend all the ingredients for about a minute or two (longer if energy balls are frozen) in 30 second pulses until smooth.

2. Serve immediately.

(* Blend equal portions of dates, walnuts and 2 tbsp peanut butter in a processor, make round balls/ flat bars and coat with coconut flakes. You can refrigerate or freeze this and it lasts upto a week in the refrigerator and possibly longer (3-4 weeks) in the freezer)
